In this episode of the book club we talk about Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Scott and Steve discuss the main themes of the book and focus on aspects of the story including the Battle School, Ender's transformation, manipulation, his siblings and also the comic book adaptation by Marvel Comics. The book has been optioned for a movie and now it seems as if it is moving ahead into production which we also touch on briefly and how we think it will compare to the book and comic book. Make sure you pick up a copy of the next book club selection which is The Emperor's Knife by Mazarkis Williams from Joe Fletcher Books. We will be talking about this book on Saturday Feb 18th during a live 24 hour podcast and listeners will have the ability to join the discussion during this special episode. |

In this episode we start with a longer news and reviews section than usual before getting on to our main. Just a quick reminder of our current book club selection. We're discussing Ender's Game on Monday 28th November, so send in your feedback via the forums or email before then, and also send in suggestions for the next book club selection. In the news section we discuss the increasing number of comic book conventions in the UK and new conventions already planned for 2012. We talk about new movies, forthcoming comic book movies and some planned sequels in movies and comic books. For our main feature we interview independent comic book creator Terry Moore who is the creator, writer and artist of series including Strangers in Paradise, Echo and the new ongoing series Rachel Rising. Terry discusses the possibility of plans for something new from SIP, we look back at Echo and look ahead to what is to come with Rachel Rising. |

In this episode we kick off with a quick reminder about our current Book Club selection which is Horns by Joe Hill from Gollancz. We will be speaking about this on Monday October 3rd, so you need to get your feedback in before 30th September. The comic book news this week, as it has for the last few, has been dominated by the new DC 52 relaunch, and we spend a little time talking about our impressions of the comic books released so far. We also discuss some TV, computer game and movie news. For our main feature we discuss TV shows that were cut short before they had a real chance to flourish. A lot of shows are cancelled early, but how many of them were really decent and how many of them deserved a second or third series. Scott and Steve offer their suggestions and there are quite a few surprises. |
